UCSC Participates in Empowered Readers Children’s Literacy March

On Saturday January 19, 2019 staff and students from the Urban Child Study Center participated in the Empowered Readers Children’s Literacy March.  We sponsored a table where children and families could engage in literacy and writing activities as well as take photographs with Pounce. We also donated books to help Empowered Readers reach their goal of collecting 5,000 books. These books will be placed in newly planted free libraries in underserved communities in Atlanta. We encouraged the Atlanta Drum Academy to remember that “Panthers Roar when they Read”. Each member of the Academy received a book bag filled with school supplies and GSU swag.
